best things I have done this year

2013 has been a good one. After graduating last December, going to college seems so strange and far away. I am so grateful for the opportunities that have arisen this year, and more importantly the choices I made. It has been quite a year : )

The best things I did in 2013-in no particular order:

attended brand market workshop: In late November, I took a huge leap of faith and attended the Brand Market Workshop. Meeting Anna, the wonderful speakers, and other attendees was such a perfect experience. I had a major shift in perspective over this little blog after that day, and I am beyond grateful I was able to attend.

learned to delegate: Of all the lessons learned at BMW (and there were too many to count), one huge take away I got was learning to delegate. Earlier this year, I had big dreams of doing the design on my own for Something Southern and designing my 2014 planner. When I took a step back though, I realized I really didn’t have the bandwidth to take on these projects. Rather then feeling defeated or stressed out, I realized it’s okay to delegate these things. It was a huge weight off my shoulders to have outsourced a few things on my to do lists, and while I am taking baby steps on the whole delegation thing, I’m look forward to making strides in 2014 : )

took molly jacques’s skillshare class: I’ve sung Molly’s praises before, and I could go on and on about Skillshare. Taking this class was pure happiness. While my calligraphy needs so much work, it has been such a great creative outlet that I didn’t necessary have before. I would love for Molly to head to Atlanta for a workshop, although, I’d have to pinch my pennies to attend ; ) Likely worth it.

started a “this is the dream I’m working on” board: I discovered Sarah’sThis is the Dream I’m Working On” Pinterest board a few months ago, and I instantly made my own. I don’t know what it is about visualizing the future that grounds me so much, but it has been a bit of an escape day dreaming on this board. It’s also been a reminder that my ultimate life goals aren’t based on finances or career goals, rather family and simplicity.

bought a DSLR: Oh goodness do I have so much to learn still. But this camera has been my companion the past four months. I am so grateful to be able to capture memories and take photos for Something Southern with my DSLR, and I am so thrilled to see how much my photography skills grow over the next few months and year.

There is something about reminiscing over the past year that gets me so excited for the coming year. I have a good feeling about 2014, I can’t wait to see what this next year has in store.
